In my dream I saw Christian take the last few steps out of the valley. The armor that had gleamed so brilliantly at the Palace Beautiful was now as dented and stained as any that had been in the Armory. But Christian himself looked—it is hard to think of the right word—bigger. No, not just bigger, but bolder, more certain. His strides were longer, his head higher. And he seemed to look further, as though he hoped to glimpse something just over the horizon.

This is a man of intent, I thought.

And so the dream went on.
